Borussia Dortmund winger Thorgan Hazard is on the verge of completing a loan move to PSV Eindhoven, according to Sport1 reporter Patrick Berger.

Hazard, who came up through the youth ranks at Ligue 1 side RC Lens has fallen down the pecking order at the Signal Iduna Park.

The former Chelsea man has featured 21 times for Edin Terzic’s side this season, but most of his appearances have come from the substitute’s bench.

The Belgium international has only started two Bundesliga games thus far, with Donyell Malen, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, and last summer’s arrival Karim Adeyemi all preferred ahead of him.

Having seen his playing time reduced in Germany, Hazard is close to joining Eredivisie giants PSV on loan for the remainder of the season.

He will travel to the Netherlands to undergo medical examinations before finalising his temporary switch, which does not include the prospect of a permanent transfer at the end of the season.

Hazard will provide depth in Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side that saw star winger Cody Gakpo join Liverpool earlier this month.

The Eredivisie club were initially planning to re-sign Donyell Malen from Dortmund following Gakpo’s departure, but that transfer never materialised.

PSV will cover Hazard’s full wages, which will prove a huge relief to the Germans, as Hazard was one of their highest earners receiving around €7 million a year.

The 29-year-old’s current contract with Dortmund will expire in the summer of 2024, and it is unclear what will happen with the Belgian when he returns at the end of the season.

Hazard initially joined Dortmund from Borussia Monchengladbach in the summer of 2019 after an impressive three-year spell with Die Fohlen.

He contributed 46 goals and 44 assists in 182 appearances for Gladbach. Meanwhile, since joining the black and yellows, Hazard has only managed 18 goals and 21 assists.
