Bellingham came through the youth system at his boyhood club Birmingham City, who retired his number 22 jersey when he left to join Borussia Dortmund as a 17-year-old in 2020.

During his first season at Dortmund he became the club’s youngest goalscorer in a competitive match and the youngest Englishman to start a Champions League fixture.

He was named in the Bundesliga Team of the Season in 2020/21 and 2022/23, and also won the Bundesliga Player of the Season award in 2022/23 as Dortmund finished runners-up to Bayern Munich.

At international level he has so far been capped 24 times for England and scored for the Three Lions at the Qatar World Cup.

Every top club in Europe has been linked with the teenager in recent months, with Liverpool believed to be frontrunners for his signature at one stage, but he will now join Los Blancos’ galaxy of stars.
