Borussia Dortmund gave away a two-goal advantage to allow Bundesliga newcomers FC Heidenheim to earn their first ever top-flight point.
Scorers: Brandt 7′, Can (P) 15′ ; Dinkçi 61′, Kleindienst 82′
BVB were on top of their visitors from the off. They snatched a quick lead in the first 10 minutes when Julian Brandt sent a volley into the back of the net from the edge of the box.
The hosts continued their supremacy in the minutes after Brandt’s rocket, as Emre Can scored from the spot to double Dortmund’s lead.
Heidenheim appeared to pull one back after the break through Adrian Beck, but a shove in the box before the goal saw the tally struck from the record, keeping Dortmund two ahead.
They wouldn’t be kept out forever however, as Eren Dinkçi cut the hosts’ lead with a superb half-volley just past the hour mark to reignite the game.
Somehow, Dortmund collapsed in the final 10 minutes. A calamitous defensive error from Sébastien Haller led to a Heidenheim penalty, which was dispatched in style by Tim Kleindienst to level the scoreline in dramatic fashion to snatch a historic point.
