RB Leipzig star Willi Orbán has revealed his opinion that Real Madrid’s Vinícius Jr. was extremely lucky to avoid a red card during the meeting between the clubs on Wednesday.

Leipzig, and Madrid, of course locked horns at the Santiago Bernabéu late last night.

When all was said and done, a 1-1 draw proved enough to guide the latter through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League, owing to a 2-1 aggregate triumph.

The aforementioned Vinícius, meanwhile, proved himself decisive, in netting the hosts’ only goal of the evening courtesy of a fine finish midway through the 2nd-half.

As alluded to above, though, one individual of the opinion that the Brazilian should not even have been on the pitch at the time of his third goal in two games comes in the form of Willi Orbán.

Defender Orbán, for his part, was also on target on Wednesday, affording Leipzig a lifeline with a quick-fire headed equaliser from close range.

And a short time earlier, the Hungarian was involved in a major flashpoint, by way of an altercation with Vinícius on the halfway line.

After the Real Madrid winger was responsible for a needless late challenge on Orbán, a heated exchange ensued, culminating in Vinícius pushing the stopper to the ground via his throat.

A yellow card was deemed an appropriate punishment, but many quickly expressed the opinion that the Blancos talisman was lucky not to see red.

And Orbán certainly shares such a viewpoint, having made use a post-match interview with Sky Sport Austria to take aim at Vinícius and referee Davide Massa alike:

“The referees don’t have the guts to send off such players. He [Viní Jr] grabs my neck with both hands. That’s disrespectful.”
