Maybe they could install a dartboard around the technical area at Old Trafford?

Donny van de Beek has not played the amount of football he would’ve wanted when he joined Manchester United in the summer. I believe Ole Gunnar Solskjaer when he says he rates him and that the Dutchman’s time in the team will come.

It may take time — next season (?) — but with talk of Paul Pogba leaving in the summer, Van de Beek should use this time to develop and learn more about playing in the Premier League like Fred and Victor Lindelof had to do.

I think Van de Beek is cut from a higher standard than those two but he must remain patient. We spoke about it on the podcast this week, with co-host Mike predicting that the former Ajax midfielder won’t be at United next year.

However, when he’s away from the football pitch, Van de Beek enjoys playing darts. It’s just a shame none of his team-mates thought of buying him a dartboard at Christmas.

He told the official Manchester United website: “I mean I’m a big fan of darts. I follow every tournament from the Dutch perspective. It’s one of the things I like really and I will follow it all, for sure.

“I did play a lot before [I came to England] but now I don’t have a board at home yet. I will buy one and I will do it again but I like to watch darts also.”

This is hardly a surprise with darts being a popular sport in the Netherlands, probably since Raymond van Barneveld began winning world titles in 1998.

Moreover, The Dutch Open is amongst the longest running darts tournaments having started back in 1973.
