Fabrizio Romano reveals that Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho has made a massive leap towards the exit door.

The Argentinian surged to prominence during Erik ten Hag’s tenure at Carrington and was at the time hailed as a ‘phenomenal talent’, but he lost his prominence following the arrival of Ruben Amorim who considered him ill-suited to his tactical plans, and wasn’t necessarily impressed with his work on the training ground.

Therefore, Garnacho was identified as one of five Man Utd outcasts who are deemed surplus to requirements. These players were omitted from the club’s pre-season tour in the United States, as the club expects them to find new accommodation before the end of the summer transfer window.

Alejandro Garnacho has been a Chelsea target for months

In recent weeks, Chelsea emerged as the ultimate favourites to sign Garnacho. The Blues have been on the 21-year-old trail for quite some time now, and his agent even made an appearance at Stamford Bridge last January.

But while a winter transfer didn’t materialise, the Blues have revived their efforts in the summer, and according to Romano, they have now found an agreement with the player and his entourage on personal terms.

Chelsea have an agreement with Garnacho, open talks with Man United

In the latest video update on his official YouTube account, the Italian journalist insisted that he expects the Argentina international to wind up at Chelsea before the end of the summer. He also revealed that the West Londoners have now launched talks with Man Utd as they look to seal the deal.

Nevertheless, Chelsea must also offload their unwanted players to make room for new arrivals, as in addition to Garnacho, they’re equally hellbent on signing RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons. The Blues are hoping to find new clubs for Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku in particular.

For their part, Man United will be keen to sell Garnacho, as they still intend to raise funds for their upcoming signings. After revamping their attack, INEOS will be aiming to recruit a new midfielder and a new goalkeeper.
