Doncaster Rovers and Port Vale will both line up in League One next season after convincing victories over fellow promotion contenders put them up automatically.
Rovers claimed a 2-1 win against local rivals Bradford City to confirm their ascent with a game to spare, while Port Vale also sealed a return to the third tier - and remain in the hunt for the title - thanks to an away triumph over AFC Wimbledon.
An early goal from Robert Street gave Doncaster the lead at halftime, and their hold on the match tightened when Bradford’s Aden Baldwin was shown a red card for dissent.
Veteran forward Billy Sharp added a stoppage-time goal to seal the win and render Michael Mellon's 94th-minute effort for Bradford little more than a consolation.
Doncaster now head into their final fixture against Notts County holding a one-point lead at the summit.
In the capital, Port Vale confirmed their immediate promotion back to League One with a 2-0 second-half surge that guaranteed a top-three finish with a game still remaining.
After a quiet opening 45 minutes in which Darren Moore’s men failed to register a shot on target, they burst into life as Jayden Stockley and Jaheim Headley both found the net within minutes.
Stockley had earlier seen a goal disallowed for offside, but made no mistake in the 64th minute, heading home Headley’s free-kick for his 11th goal of the season.
Headley turned scorer moments later, latching onto a well-weighted pass from skipper George Byers to calmly slot past goalkeeper Owen Goodman.
Vale’s result ensured promotion - and kept their hopes of lifting the title alive going into the final round.
