Fresh trouble could well be on the horizon at Spanish giants Barcelona, amid a potential falling out between head coach Xavi, and sporting director Deco.

As much comes in the aftermath of a fresh round of comments on the part of the latter, since causing quite a stir in Catalunya’s capital.

Speaking in an as of yet unreleased interview with ‘Nascer do Sol’ (as cited by Sport) this week, Deco was asked for the latest on Barcelona’s plans to replace the outbound Xavi in the summer.

And the club’s sporting director went on to drop something of a bombshell, in confirming the intention of he and president Joan Laporta to appoint a tactician who breaks with the Blaugrana’s roots ‘once and for all’:

“A radical change is needed,” Deco began. “There is a method that is finished. The President is with me. We need to find someone who breaks up with the past once and for all and move towards a new model.”

As much, however, has evidently not yet been run by the man set to imminently vacate his place on the bench in Catalunya.

As part of his post-match media session on the back of Barcelona’s disappointing 3-3 stalemate with Granada on Sunday, Xavi was questioned on Deco’s recent remarks.

And the Spanish tactician appeared none too pleased, adamant that everything he has been told to date points towards the Blaugrana maintaining their famed ‘DNA and style’:

“Where did he say that?” Xavi responded. “He doesn’t say that to me. He tells me that he believes in the Barça DNA and style. I can’t say anything else.”
