Manchester City could yet be keeping one eye on Cole Palmer’s Chelsea progression and future following a new report offering insight into the agreement to sell the forward.

The England international has been the breakthrough talent of the ongoing Premier League season, having opted to bring an end to his development with Pep Guardiola and Manchester City in search of a fresh challenge last summer.

Palmer was undoubtedly highly-rated within the City Football Academy, and many believed he would go on to become the next big star to emerge from the club’s conveyor belt of young rising talents acquired from an early age.

However, amid concerns over his game time under Pep Guardiola for the now-ongoing 2023/24 season, Cole Palmer opted to take up Chelsea’s proposal of a fresh challenge at Stamford Bridge, while Manchester City earned themselves a strong deal in the process.

But it now appears as though all is not forgotten for Manchester City officials when it comes to Cole Palmer and their chances of earning additional funds through the success of the 21-year-old Wythenshawe-born forward.

That is according to the information of Manchester City insider ‘Tolmie’s Hairdoo’ on X, who reports that Etihad Stadium bosses do have ‘some’ add-ons included in Cole Palmer’s £42 million transfer to Chelsea last summer.

However, unfortunately for Manchester City given Palmer’s staggering development and rise at Stamford Bridge, it is clarified that the Premier League champions do not have a sell-on clause in the agreement, and could be ‘waiting a while’ when it comes to their add-ons.

The report reveals that the add-ons included in Cole Palmer’s move to Chelsea from Manchester City during the last summer transfer window premised on the London club qualifying for, or winning, the UEFA Champions League or lifting the Premier League.

Palmer has been at the very front and centre of any excellent work seen by Chelsea this season, emerging as the club’s star player in attack and earning himself a senior England international debut in the process.

Such has been the excellent nature of Palmer’s performances for Chelsea that the youngster is widely expected to be part of Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the upcoming European Championships this summer.

Across 41 appearances in all competitions for Mauricio Pochettino’s side so far this season, Cole Palmer has registered a staggering 25 goals, and provided a further 13 assists in the process.
