Śląsk Wrocław named Ivan Djurdjević as their new coach on Thursday. The Serbian signed for the Lower Silesian club until 2024, with the option to extend for another 12 months.
45-year-old Djurdjević arrives in Wrocław from nearby Głogów, having left Chrobry after a strong season which narrowly saw them miss out on promotion. The former midfielder spent three years at the club, and led them to last week’s 1 Liga play-off final, where they were narrowly beaten by Korona Kielce.
Prior to his time at Chrobry, Djurdjević had a brief spell in charge of Lech Poznań – the club with which he spent the last six years of his playing career, making 105 apoearances. He also played in his native Serbia (then Yugoslavia), and four Portuguese clubs including Belenenses and Vitória Guimaraes.
Djurdjević replaces Piotr Tworek at the Tarczyński Arena, whose three-month spell at the club came to an end on Wednesday.
