Djorde Mihailovic, alongside fellow US teammates, has shined thus far in the 2023 Gold Cup and is making the most of his opportunities with his national team.

US men's national team interim manager highlighted Djordje Mihailovic's contributions in the 6-0 triumph over St. Kitts and Nevis, labeling the player as a "real threat"

The AZ Alkmaar player recorded two goals and two assists from the midfield, inspiring movement in the final threat to propel the Stars and Stripes to top Group A standings.

"I thought he showed his quality," Callaghan claimed.

"He's a player that is really comfortable in between the lines and as he gets closer to the penalty box, he becomes a real threat, whether it's from running behind the line, arriving in the penalty box. So, I thought the performance we saw from Djordje was the performances that we expect from him."

The 24-year-old added the American team knew strived to score as many goals as possible to set themselves up for a first place finish in Group A ahead of their final match against Trinidad and Tobago, who famously denied the US from qualifying from the 2018 World Cup.

"We knew from the results against Jamaica we need to pick up some goals because it's an important tiebreaker if we get the job done in the next match," Mihailovic said. "But that's something that we spoke about before, when one comes to try to keep going as much as we can."

But Mihailovic wasn't the only USA player to shine against the Sugar Boyz. Forward Jesus Ferreira found the back of the net on three occasions and became just the fifth ever US player to score multiple hat tricks with the Stars and Stripes.

"It means a lot. Obviously, growing up you always want to join the big names and want to join the exclusive lists and join those lists that barely any people touch. And for me to do it here in the U.S. shirt scoring goals, it means a lot," Ferreira said post-game.

"This is a national team that gave me the opportunity to represent a country on the biggest stage and a country that gave me that joy of playing at the highest level possible. So, I'm just excited and happy that I can give that back to the fans and excited for what's to come."

Right-back Bryan Reynolds, who scored his first goal at the international level with a screamer from outside the box, added the US could've scored even more goals before the final whistle.

"I think it was important that we got a goal early and a lot of goals early, but with our quality, I think we could have scored 10 goals," Reynolds said. "It's good that we won, but we always want to see things that we can improve on."

The USMNT, now on four points and in first place in Group A on goal difference, will take on Trinidad and Tobago in Matchday three on July 2 to wrap up group stage play.
