L’Équipe report tonight that Djibril Sidibé will complete a move to AEK Athens tomorrow, having left Monaco at the end of last season. The World Cup winner will fly out tonight in order to undergo his medical.
The Frenchman will sign a two-year deal and replace a compatriot in Clément Michelin, the former Lens man having left Greece to return to France with Ligue 2’s Bordeaux this summer.
The former Everton man had been close to a return to the Premier League towards the end of the transfer window as the spendthrift Nottingham Forest were interested, but the newly-promoted side ended up opting for Serge Aurier instead.
The World Cup winner leaves Monaco after a six-year spell that saw him win Ligue 1 in his first campaign and make a total of 174 appearances, although he saw his playing time decrease in the second half of last season. He previously came through the ranks at Troyes and then spent four years at Lille.
