Liverpool have always been on the hunt to find their clinical edge in attack and when Diogo Jota is on the pitch it seems they have found their answer.
Starting the season in good fitness, the Portuguese striker has notched four goals and two assists so far this season, across 623 minutes of football, spread over nine games in all competitions.
The 27-year-old has been at the club for four years now and despite battling numerous fitness issues throughout his stay on Merseyside he is considered by most to be Liverpool's best striker.
Darwin Nunez has been competing with him for game time, but as he sits on the sidelines working on his end product, Jota has found immediate favour with Arne Slot.
Speaking ahead of Portugal's UEFA Nations League game against Poland, as reported by Maisfutebol, Jota revealed he is comfortable at the club and has no ambitions of leaving anytime soon. However, he does intend to return to his homeland one day.
He said: "Returning to Portugal to win the league? It doesn’t make much sense at this stage, but I wouldn’t rule it out in the future.
"It will depend on the level I’m at at that point, it’s a combination of factors that have to come together for it to be possible, but yes, I would like to return, later on in my career."
Jota is still contracted at Liverpool for two more seasons and a contract extension is not out of the possibility as the Reds endeavour to have a multi-faceted attack to help them challenge in every competition they play in.
And although he is open to a move back to Portugal at some point, it is unlikely the move will happen anytime soon.
He goes on to say that he feels confident that the best of his career is still to come as he strives to improve in training.
"I have been working since I became a professional to always be at the best level", he added. "Each season that begins is a new opportunity to show my worth and that is what I am trying to do. I want it to last from the beginning to the end of the season"
While Arne Slot has given Jota the green light to lead Liverpool's attack this season, Nunez has impressed when given the opportunity.
Both players will be heavily relied upon as the season progresses, but when Jota gets on a hot streak, Liverpool look like a very different prospect - long may it continue.
