Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot has explained that his celebration with Antony is a “little thing” between himself and the Portuguese winger.

Dalot spoke to Sky Sports after scoring his first Premier League goal in United’s 2-0 win against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.

Antony opened the score before Dalot sealed the win in the second half with a brilliant goal.

The Brazilian embarked on a run before cheekily passing the ball to Dalot, who made a late dart into the Forest box.

Dalot took a few touches and then put the ball into the back of the net beyond Keylor Navas, who had kept a number of efforts out.

The result has now left the Red Devils in third position, three points above fourth-placed Newcastle who fell to a heavy defeat at the hands of Aston Villa on Saturday.

Dalot said after the game, “We are not just only 11 players, we have shown it in the past. Players get injured, this is football. Inside the dressing room, we were calm [about the injuries]. We know through the season that we are not only 11 players.”

“It was special [to score]. At the moment the goal was important as well, at 2-0 we were much more comfortable.”

On his first Premier League goal, the 24-year-old said, “It’s always special to score for this club, and even better with the result.”

He added about his celebration with Antony, “It is our little thing.”

Even more impressive about Dalot’s display is that he played in the left-back position the entire game.

With both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia injured, Dalot stepped up and filled the missing duo’s boots very well.
