On Thursday night, Diego Maradonaās Dorados took a huge step to claiming the 2018 Ascenso MX Apertura title, as they defeated San Luis 1-0 in the first leg of the final.
The Apertura and Clausura champions will meet in May to determine who will be promoted to Liga MX.
Before the match, former Mexican boxer Julio CƩsar ChƔvez visited the dressing room to motivate Diego and his team.
Edson Riveraās 73rd-minute goal was the difference on the night as Dorados will take a slim advantage heading into Sundayās second leg.
However, it was Diego Maradona who took centre stage, as heĀ was sent off from the touchline by the referee and the fourth official for his aggressive behaviour.
Maradona wouldnāt leave the pitch without first making a scene and even appeared to threaten to punch opposition manager Alfonso Sosa during their touchline dispute.
The 1986Ā World Cup winner with Argentina, of course, left was given a standing ovation as he left the pitch.
