When asked about returning to the national team set-up, however, the 57-year-old was crystal clear with his thoughts.

“I won’t back to the national team because they are a bunch of traitors,” he told MARCA. “We wanted a new AFA and we put Tapia in.

“I’m also guilty because he came to ask for support and then he never called me again, that’s treason, and I spit on the traitors in the face.

“There are too many cliques, too many friends, nobody is honest. If you believe something you should speak up – not sit in silence.”
