Diego Maradona made a disappointing comeback to the Dorados dugout when his side were beaten 2-1 by UAEM Potros on Sunday.

Maradona was forced to miss Dorados’ Ascenso MX Clausura defeat at the hands of Celaya after suffering a health scare earlier this month but his team did register a Copa MX victory over Querétaro in his absence.

But after their second league defeat on the bounce, the 58-year-old Argentine has promised the club’s supporters that performances will improve.

“I can tell our fans to stay calm, the boss is back and now they will do what I say,” he told reporters after the game.

While he was away, Maradona’s assistant took charge of the team, and the 1986 World Cup winner hinted that he isn’t happy with how they have been training over the last few weeks.

“Since I was not in training, they dedicated more to physical work than to the ball,” he added.

“The owner can remove the pieces that he thinks are pertinent, the only thing he can not do is mess with the players.

“Here I win, I draw or lose myself. The valuable thing for me is to have the adrenaline of football again after the operations I went through.”

Dorados are next in action when they take on Zacatepec in the Copa MX on Thursday.
