Diego Godín rejects Manchester United contract offer
Manchester United’s approach for Diego Godín looks to have resulted in a complete dead end.
Rumours surfaced earlier on Thursday that the Red Devils had looked at the possibility of signing the Uruguay international by lodging a release clause offer of €25m.
The Spanish outfit clearly had no choice but to accept, but according to Fabrizio Romano, the player himself has rejected the chance to go to the Premier League.
Man Utd offered €25M to Atlético Madrid for Diego Godin release clause... and €9M/season to the player. Godin at the moment has NOT accepted and he wants to stay at Atléti. 🔴 @DiMarzio #MUFC #transfers #ManUnited— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano ) 2018-08-09T10:59:27Z
He reports that United offered Godin a contract worth €9m per season, but that the central defender has opted to remain with Diego Simeone’s men.
