Diego Costa hit with eight-game ban for foul-mouthed rant

Atlético Madrid will be without Diego Costa for the rest of the season.

The striker was sent off in his side’s 2-0 defeat to Barcelona at the Camp Nou last weekend.

His rant against referee Gil Manzano has resulted in him receiving an eight-game ban and a €6,000 fine.

“I shit on your whore mother,” a furious Costa allegedly told the match official.

Spain’s competition committee have hit him with a four-game ban for his insult and a further four for grabbing the referee.

There are just seven games remaining in the LaLiga season.

That means the former Chelsea man will miss the rest of the campaign and one game in 2019/20.
