Antoine Griezmann’s motivation for seeking an Atlético exit in favour of joining Barcelona has been explained by Diego Costa.
The Spain international was a team-mate of Griezmann for two years in the Spanish capital.
But their strike partnership ended this summer when the 2018 World Cup winner pushed for a move to the Camp Nou.
Costa has attempted to explain why Griezmann did so – citing his eagerness to become part of a new star-studded Barça attacking trio.
“Griezmann’s dream was to play with [Lionel] Messi and [Luis] Suárez,” Costa told Que Partidazo.
“As a footballer you always want to test yourself and it is normal that he’d want to play there.
“He wants to see if he can be an important player there like he was at Atléti.
“We can’t say anything bad about him for that.”
Not sure the Rojiblancos support will agree with the sentiment of that last line, Diego.
