Speaking to beIN Sports in the wake of his France team’s assured last 16 performance against Poland, Didier Deschamps has insisted that his team are intent on going all the way once again and are not satisfied with their quarter-final spot.

A devastating Kylian Mbappé performance saw the Paris Saint-Germain forward set up Olivier Giroud’s record-breaking 52nd goal for France, before scoring a late brace to take his tally to five for the tournament.

Les Bleus have now reached the last eight stage for the third consecutive tournament, all under the reign of Deschamps. They face their toughest test yet in a free-scoring England side next Saturday evening.

The coach has explained that he knows his players well and that they are “still hungry” to go on in the competition, before adding that they should nevertheless appreciate the decade-long run they have been on, not least those who were around in 2014 and have seen all three tournaments.
