Arsenal had a mountain to climb in Wednesday's Champions League semi-final return leg with Paris Saint-Germain, and it soon became an impossible job.
Already trailing their hosts by a solitary goal from the first leg, Mikel Arteta's men fell behind by the same margin in the first half after Fabiån Ruiz's well-struck opener.
But the Gunners nearly found themselves fully out for the count after VAR instructed referee Felix Zwayer to view the monitor for a potential handball by Myles Lewis-Skelly.
Fortunately for the Gunners, David Raya was able to deny Vitinha's spot kick and keep his side in with a chance of potentially turning things around.
However it proved to be short-lived as Achraf Hakimi extended Les Parisiens' advantage just minutes later before Bukayo Saka clawed one back.
