I wonder if Oasis were asked to decide the Aston Villa Champions League ticket prices?

The Gallagher brothers behaving appallingly at the weekend, as they rinsed their fans to an incredible degree, charging up to best part of £500 a ticket.

Villa fans might have thought they’d won the lottery when they qualified for the Champions League.

Now some of them might need to win the lottery if they want to actually see the games!

Wednesday saw the Aston Villa Champions League ticket prices made public (see below) and little wonder so many of their supporters are appalled.

The cheapest adult ticket is £85, unless you are a season ticket holder, then it is ‘only’ £70. Remember, this is for the cheapest adult tickets in zones three and four.

In zones one and two they are actually £94 (£79 for ST holders), whilst the ‘1888’ section is £97 (£82).

Even at the cheapest, these Aston Villa Champions League ticket prices would see it costing £340 for a Villa fan (who isn’t a season ticket holder) to go to all four home matches in this qualifying stage.

Whilst by the time they get to their final home CL match of this phase on 29 January 2025, every chance that Aston Villa will have zero chance of qualifying.

I thought it was extortionate when Newcastle United charged fans £60 (£55 season ticket holders) per ticket last season in the Champions League.

For Aston Villa to charge £82 compared to NUFC’s £60 is just basically treating their fans with contempt.

As with the Gallagher brothers/Oasis, just because Aston Villa know/think their fans will pay these prices, it doesn’t mean you should be charging them…

Aston Villa Champions League ticket prices official announcement – 4 September 2024:

‘Aston Villa are pleased to advise supporters of ticket details for our historic maiden Champions League campaign.

The club’s first foray into the continent’s elite competition for 41 years will see Villa Park host four exciting fixtures with some of Europe’s heavyweight clubs.

German giants Bayern Munich will arrive at B6 on Wednesday, October 2 in a mouthwatering re-run of the greatest night in the club’s history, when Peter Withe’s goal secured European Cup glory in 1982.

After hosting competition newcomers Bologna on Tuesday, October 22, we will welcome another European colossus in two-time winners Juventus – and a welcome back to Villa Park for Douglas Luiz on Wednesday, November 27.

We round off our home schedule with a hotly-anticipated Battle of Britain clash on Wednesday, January 29 with Scottish champions and 1967 European Cup winners, Celtic making the trip south to the Midlands.

Ticket prices for Adult season ticket holders in Zones 1 and 2 will be priced at £79.

Junior season ticket holders pay just £20 in all price zones other than Zone 1 and 1888 seats.

For a full breakdown of prices, please see the table below.
