Former Real Madrid and Lyon midfielder Mahamadou Diarra says Yves Bissouma should join Arsenal.

The Brighton midfielder is being linked with the Gunners, along with several major European clubs, after reportedly making a transfer request last weekend.

For Diarra, he believes his fellow Malian should choose Arsenal amongst the raft of clubs eager to sign him this summer.

Quoted by Fotbol Transfers, Diarra, who played in England with Fulham, said: "Yves has shown that he has the ability to do great things and he has handled great matches really well.

"I have heard that Arsenal and other clubs are interested, but I think Arsenal should do everything to get him."

Indeed, Diarra is adamant that Bissouma would make an instant impact in Arsenal's midfield given his success and experience with the Seagulls.

He added, "He is young, he wants to develop and already knows how to succeed in a big league so I think he will play well in Arsenal's team."

Bissouma has a contract with Brighton to 2023. This season, the 24 year-old has played 36 times for the Seagulls, scoring twice. He was brought to England three years ago by Brighton, signing in a €16.9m deal from Lille.

Brighton sit in 17th position on the Premier League table, with their top-flight status confirmed for another season. They're next in action on Saturday against West Ham United.
