The defense has long looked to be an obvious area for Inter Milan to target this summer.

The futures of Stefan de Vrij and particularly Francesco Acerbi are up in the air. Both have been defensive stalwarts for the Nerazzurri, but are well into their thirties.

Therefore, a major priority in the transfer window will be to bring new blood into the defense.

The profile that Inter are after would be a defender who can play the same role as de Vrij and Acerbi.

The Nerazzurri are seeking a physical centre-back with strong man-marking ability. They want a player who can play in the centre of the back three.
