AC Milan are still holding out hope for the potential signing of Sven Botman before the transfer window closes, eager to get a quality centre-back brought in. However, the operation remains very difficult.

The Lille star is on the top of the Rossoneri’s wish list and he’s thus regarded as the No.1 target. The problem is that the price tag is too high for the time being, with the French side reportedly asking for €30m+.

On Sky Italia this evening, as cited by MilanNews, Gianluca Di Marzio spoke about the whole Botman saga. Among other things, he stated that Milan are waiting on closing any other operations (for the defence) as they want Botman.

“From what I have been saying for 2 or 3 days now, Milan continues to have the slightest hope of being able to sign Botman. Milan are trying to understand the possibility of signing this player despite the continuous denials of the Lille president.

“There is a great feeling between the clubs and perhaps the Botman dream is why the management is not going for another player on loan. They want to wait a few days and if next week they understand that there is no room for Botman, the Rossoneri directors will have the opportunity to choose between players on the loan market, namely Tanganga, Bailly and Diallo,” he stated.

It remains to be seen if there will be an opening from Lille before the end of the market. The relations are indeed excellent but that matters little if the gap between the offer and the demand is very significant.
