Davide Calabria could miss Friday’s game against Lecce after also being absent for the derby and Alex Jimenez is being readied to replace him, a report claims.
According to Di Marzio, Calabria has begun an individual training programme in the hopes of getting back fully fit in view of the Champions League match against Bayer Leverkusen, but this means that he will probably also be rested for the Serie A match against Lecce.
While waiting to regain 100% condition to return to Paulo Fonseca’s disposal, the Milan captain continues to work, trying to regain physical stability that will allow him to return to training with the group. What this means is that the head coach is a bit short in the right-back role.
Emerson Royal will be asked to start again on Friday but while waiting for Calabria to return Fonseca will be able to count on Alex Jimenez, a Milan Futuro player who has been integrated into the first team since today’s training session.
The coach of Milan Futuro, Daniele Bonera, has used him mostly at right-back so far in Serie C this season despite the fact he played as a left-back a lot for the Primavera. The Spaniard is right-footed, so in theory it should be his preferred side.
