Giovanni Di Lorenzo’s agent, Mario Giuffredi, confirms Inter, Juventus, Roma and Atletico Madrid inquired about the Italy defender who decided to stay at Napoli mostly thanks to Antonio Conte: ‘He was fundamental.’

Di Lorenzo pushed to leave Napoli before EURO 2024 after hearing that the club would listen to offers for him.

When Manna said he’d have considered offers, Giovanni thought he wanted to leave. Put yourself in the player’s shoes. He did 99 good things and a bad one and was treated this way. Morally, it was so bad.

“When Manna said he’d have considered offers, Giovanni started to think that he wanted to leave,” the defender’s agent Giuffredi said at a press conference on Monday.

“Put yourself in the player’s shoes. He did 99 good things and a bad one and was treated this way. Morally, it was so bad.

“Inter were the first club to call,” the defender’s representative continued.

“You [journalists] fueled speculations about Juventus, but Inter were the first to inquire because Dumfries has a year left in his contract, so they asked for information.

“Juventus, Inter, Roma and Atletico Madrid called me recently. They were interested in Di Lorenzo, but we reached an agreement because he wanted to stay at Napoli.”

The appointment of Conte was surely a turning point for the Partenopei’s captain.

“He arrived and he listened to us. During a meeting, I said for one hour that we wanted to go, but Conte put himself into our shoes and understood a player who had had any sort of issue in the previous season. He listened to us and proved that he wanted us to stay. He was fundamental because he worked with us to solve all problems when we met.”
