Five clubs, two in Serie A, are thought to be interested in Napoli captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo, who reportedly asked to leave the club this summer according to reports on Friday.

According to Fridays’ print edition of Corriere dello Sport, adding to rumours from TMW, Di Lorenzo spoke with new Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna, who has recently arrived from Juventus, to inform him of his desire to leave during the next transfer session.

Two sides in the Premier League, namely Manchester United and Aston Villa, are thought to be on the hunt for a new full-back. They have both been linked with several from Serie A in recent months, including Inter’s Denzel Dumfries and Torino’s Raoul Bellanova.

TMW suggest that Atletico Madrid are also interested in the potentially available Di Lorenzo.

Though Napoli would reportedly prefer for their captain to leave for a club abroad, rather than to a direct rival in Serie A, there are two top Italian clubs who could pounce on an opportunity if it comes up.

The first is the recently crowned Scudetto winners Inter, who themselves could look to bring in a replacement should the aforementioned Dumfries be on his way out this summer.

There is also Juventus, who have the pull of former Napoli director Cristiano Giuntoli, who left the Partenopei to join Juve after the title-winning 2022-23 campaign last year.
