Wolfsburg are another club through to the quarter-finals after a slim victory over Schalke.
The hosts outshot the visitors 17-6 but had to settle for a 1-0 win.
Wout Weghorst’s penalty in the 40th minute proved to be the decider. Initially saved, the forward scored on the rebound.
Schalke did try to make the most of their chances in the second half but couldn’t find a way to push the match into extra-time.
A convincing 4-0 win over Bochum sees RB Leipzig move on to the next round.
Amadou Haidara’s early strike had the team ahead in the 10th minute and Marcel Sabitzer’s penalty doubled their lead just before the break.
Coming into the second, the hosts maintained total control.
Eventually, two goals from Yussuf Poulsen went on to secure the victory.
It was a tight match at the Continental Arena and Regensburg came out victorious after winning a penalty shoot-out yet again.
Ismali Jakobs’ fourth-minute goal gave Köln an early lead and Emmanuel Bonaventure went on to double it.
But two quick goals from Scott Kennedy and Jann George tied the match just before half-time.
Nothing could separate either side in the second half or during extra-time so in the end, winning 4-3 on penalties allowed Regensburg to move on to the quarters for the first time.
Borussia Mönchengladbach had to come from behind to win against Stuttgart.
It was a shock start to the match as the visitors took the lead through Silas Wamangituka after two minutes. They only had three per cent possession at the time.
It took Gladbach the entire first 45 minutes to equalize as Marcus Thuram found the back of the net as half-time approached.
Alassane Pléa then gave the visitors the lead early on into the second half and his goal ended up being the winner.
The DFB Pokal quarter-finals are scheduled to take place from 2-3 of March.
