Al-Qadsiah have reached an agreement with Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder Julian Weigl (29). The defensive-midfielder will earn up a reported €21m with the Saudi Pro League club after a two-year contract was agreed with an option for a third.
As reported by Sky Germany, Weigl will earn €7m per year with his new club. Negotiations with Gladbach are still ongoing, but the Bundesliga club will receive a transfer fee between €7m and €8m. This news comes after die Fohlen sporting director Roland Virkus confirmed that Weigl was in Saudi Arabia to undergo negotiations with a then unnamed club, which is now reported to be Al-Qadsiah.
This late into the day, it’s unlikely that Gladbach would be able to sign a replacement for Weigl, and so they would go into the season with Rocco Reitz, Philipp Sander, Jens Castrop and Oscar Fraulo as their midfield options, with Gio Reyna providing an attacking option.
