The details of the final voting for last week’s Kopa Trophy have on Saturday been unveiled.
And they highlight the absolutely massive gap between winner Lamine Yamal of Barcelona, and Real Madrid starlet Arda Güler.
Wide-man Lamine was of course last week the recipient of the prestigious Kopa prize, which recongises the standout U21 player in world football across the prior year.
After an explosion onto the senior stage, which saw him play a starring role for both Barcelona and Spain in 2024, the 17-year-old saw his status as the game’s standout young player confirmed.
And yet, whilst Lamine was always the favourite to secure the award, it may nevertheless come as something of a surprise to see just how extensive the margin of victory was.
The final standings for the Kopa Trophy were unveiled this weekend, revealing that Barcelona’s prodigious winger racked up a hefty total of 113 points.
2nd-placed Arda Güler, on the other hand, was afforded just 26 points, highlighting just how superior Lamine was considered to the chasing pack this year.
