Competition for the exciting midfielder seems to be very high already, with Premier League counterparts Norwich City, as well as Scottish giants Rangers also in pursuit.

Twine has 13 League One goals and divisional assists this season, proving to be a vital part of MK Dons’ push for promotion to the Championship.

David Dunn

Yes No

The 22-year-old, who can operate as a number 10, on the wing, and as a false nine, is enjoying a very productive season with the Dons and is certainly one of the top talents in the EFL.

Three of our writers here at FLW have shared their thoughts regarding Burnley’s interest in Twine…

Ben Wignall

I think this all depends on if Sean Dyche is willing to change his system around at Turf Moor.

When Chris Wood departed in January there was speculation that the Clarets would look to sign some more mobile and versatile forwards to play in a less-direct 4-3-3, with the Maxwel Cornet summer addition working out very well.

In that kind of system, Twine cutting in off the left flank with his powerful right foot could be really dangerous – instead though they went for a Wood-esque replacement in Wout Weghorst and in the current 4-4-2 I just don’t think Twine would fit in.

I also have my doubts about him being as effective in the Premier League at this stage of his career and I think a move to a top Championship side or one of the Scottish giants would be the best next step.

If Burnley don’t survive the drop though then they’d fall into that category – if that happens then I could see Twine being a really good signing for them but only if Dyche is willing to change his ways and his formation.

Declan Harte

Twine has been excellent since arriving at MK Dons in the Summer. A record of 13 goals and nine assists in League One is very impressive.

Taking the step up to Burnley in the Summer would be a big leap for the 22-year old.

While Sean Dyche’s side may be in the Championship by then, he doesn’t have the experience at that level that would make him a guaranteed starter in their side.

However, he could still be a smart signing as he is showing he is ready to start playing at a Championship level.

If Burnley remain in the Premier League then he could really struggle for game time, but the Clarets could also send him on a loan to continue his development.

A lot of this signing likely depends on Burnley’s league status come the Summer.

George Dagless

I think so.

Twine is a player destined to be playing at the highest levels and I think it is only a matter of time before he gets a move and an opportunity to do so.

Burnley could obviously do with someone that has his creativity and if he went there he would surely be getting more game time than most clubs that he could move to in the Premier League.

Of course, the Clarets need to secure their top flight status this season still but it is clear he is a player of considerable talent and regardless of where they are next season I think he would be a hit for them and able to play plenty of minutes.
