Het Nieuwsblad is reporting that a number of Deinze players are looking to have their contracts terminated and find new clubs. None of the players have been paid since September, while other staff members have been waiting longer than that. Despite promises from new owners AAD Invest Group that wages would be paid by the 15th of November, no money has been forthcoming. As a result, the players have spoken to the Unions to see what their options are. As soon as players have not received wages for over two months, they can in principle have their contract terminated by the Belgian Labour Court – or in the case of non Belgian players by FIFA. According to the report, some players are already in talks with other clubs and could join them within a month.
Despite the promises AAD made the day they bought the club, many fears that they did not have the money required seem to be coming true. Promises were made but many are rightly questioning why they have been able to buy the club without having the finances in place to pay the staff and players.
