Markus Krösche, Dino Toppmöller and Timmo Hardung speak about the disappointing cup defeat in Saarbrücken.

Board member for sport Markus Krösche: “We’re annoyed because we were actually prepared for this game. We had no answers going forward today and deserved to lose. That’s absolutely not the football we want to play. It's a difficult period for us at the moment but you always have to win your tackles, regardless of whether you’re playing against a third-division team or a Bundesliga team. Obviously we’re hugely disappointed – we were in the final a few months ago and wanted to get back there.”

Head coach Dino Toppmöller: “Physically we’re on our last legs. We’re lacking sharpness, perhaps in our minds too. Normally Willian Pacho would easily clear the ball away before the first goal. We have to accept this and try to flip the switch as quickly as possible. We face an extremely difficult Bundesliga match against Bayern Munich on Saturday. We have to try to shake it off and do better.”

Sporting director Timmo Hardung: “We fully deserved to lose. I don’t know what hurts more – the result or the manner of it. We’ve squandered a huge opportunity. We’re lacking important things that you need in football to play successfully and well. Everyone’s dejected.”
