That is according to Football Insider, who state that the Rams have beaten Blackburn Rovers, QPR, and Stoke City to the signature of the forward.

Paul Warne’s side are preparing for life back in the Championship after two years in League One.

Derby secured promotion to the second tier by sealing automatic promotion, as they finished in second place behind Portsmouth.

Warne will be keen to add to his side over the coming months, as he will want to try and avoid a battle at the bottom end of the table.

It has been reported by Alan Nixon that Derby are said to be closing in on the signing of Ben Osborn, and it now appears as though Yates could be set to follow.

Jerry Yates only joined Swansea City in last year’s summer transfer window after being at Blackpool for three years.

The 27-year-old endured a disappointing campaign compared to his previous ones, as he scored eight goals in 43 league games while also chipping in with just a single assist.

It was reported by WalesOnline earlier this month that the Welsh side could consider the sale of the Yates if they were to receive the right offer.

It now appears as though he is on the move, but not in a deal that is going to see Swansea receive a transfer fee for the player.

According to Football Insider, Derby County have won the race to sign the striker ahead of teams such as Blackburn Rovers, QPR, and Stoke City.

These four sides all look keen on improving their attacking options, but it appears as though Yates is set to join Paul Warne’s side.

Jerry Yates’ contract situation at Swansea City

Having only joined Swansea City last summer, it will be no surprise to see that the striker still has a few years left to run on his current contract.

Yates signed a three-year contract when he joined the Swans, meaning he still has two years left to run on his current deal.

It is unclear at this stage if there is going to be a buy option for Derby or if it is just a straight loan, but if it is the latter, that will mean he will return to Swansea at the end of the 2024/25 campaign.

The 27-year-old was among the goals last season, but he struggled compared to his previous seasons, as he was in and out of the side during parts of the campaign as well.

Jerry Yates is an excellent signing for Derby County

Jerry Yates may not have hit the heights at Swansea last season, but he is still a good player and a striker who has shown he can score in the Championship.

This makes him an excellent signing for a team like Derby County, who are in need of adding to their attacking options.

The Rams need to make sure they have goals in their team, and adding someone like Yates, who has 31 goals in 152 games in the Championship, is a good move.

The forward will have something to prove, but if Warne can get the best out of him, then this could turn out to be an excellent addition for the club and a steal, as they got him on a loan deal.
