According to the Derby Telegraph, she has revealed that she has “spoken with Middlesbrough and Wycombe Mp’s and football club owners” about the financial dispute between the clubs and the Rams.

Following those discussions, Solloway confirmed that she is “feeling more hopeful” that the situation is “heading in a more positive direction.”

Solloway went on to reveal that she believes a solution is “more likely than it was.”

Solloway released a statement on Twitter to update Derby fans on the current situation.

“I have met with EFL and the administrators along with Derby City Council and have also spoken to The Rams Trust and reached out to other key stakeholders for further meetings,” wrote Solloway on the social media platform.

“I have also spoken with Middlesbrough and Wycombe MP’s and football club owners regarding the claims against Derby County.

“I’m sure you’ll appreciate that discussions still need to be continued in order to find a solution but I am certainly feeling more hopeful that things are heading in a more positive direction and that finding a solution is more likely than it was.

“Today, myself and colleagues have another meeting with administrators and will continue to pursue the issue for as long as needed with all those involved in the process.

“I will continue to update you on any discussions as they happen and will do my best to keep you updated as much as I possibly can. #SaveDerby.”

Derby County received a 21-point deduction in the Championship this season as a consequence of their financial mismanagement. The club is in administration and seeking a new owner.

Despite the massive penalty, Wayne Rooney has led the club to 23rd in the table and the team now has an unlikely shot at survival in the second division.

Rooney’s side have picked up an impressive 13 points from their last five league games, which has moved them above Barnsley in the table.

Up next for the Rams is an away trip to bitter rivals Nottingham Forest on January 22.

The Verdict

That local MPs have had to get involved says a lot about how far this dispute has gotten.

This British government has been very hands-off when it comes to their relationship with football, yet the likes of Solloway have still found it necessary to step in.

It is good news for Derby fans that she remains positive about the situation and the hope now is that the end is nearly in sight for this tumultuous period for the club.
