Championship newcomers Derby County are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season, and AZ Alkmaar’s Kenzo Goudmijn has emerged as a transfer target for the Rams. The 22-year-old has just experienced an impressive campaign on loan at Excelsior Rotterdam. Goudmijn registered five goal contributions in 23 appearances as Excelsior were relegated to the second tier.

Dutch newspaper BN DeStem reports that Derby have shown concrete interest in the Dutchman for sometime now and the club have approached AZ, although it’s yet to be known whether they’ll make a permanent or loan move for the player. At AZ Alkmaar, Kenzo Goudmijn has featured 20 times for the first team, starting just three of those games. The club are reportedly open to selling the player, however an attractive fee would be required as his current contract expires in 2026.

As well as Derby County, Eredivisie outfits Heerenveen and Heracles Almelo have also registered their interest in Goudmijn. The youngster is incredibly versatile, having previously played on both wings, in a deeper midfield role and in his predominant position as an attacking midfielder. If Derby do sign Kenzo Goudmijn, he’ll certainly be a player for Championship neutrals to keep an eye on next season.
