Inter wingback Denzel Dumfries has been unanimously named as the Nerazzurri’s key man in their 2-1 win over Lecce yesterday by Italian media.

The Dutchman’s display was given the highest score of any Inter players in the player ratings for the Serie A season opener across Italian media, as is highlighted by L’Interista.

Dumfries was left out of Inter’s starting eleven in favour of Matteo Darmian, but this did not mean that the 26-year-old wouldn’t have his say.

Introduced during the second half when the Nerazzurri’s starters were starting to look more and more devoid of attacking ideas, the former PSV wingback’s impact was the most transformative out of any of the substitutes used, and he had the final say with his last-minute winner.

The Gazzetta dello Sport and the Corriere dello Sport both gave Dumfries a grade of 7.5/10 for his display off the bench, whilst the likes of Tuttosport, TuttoMercatoWeb, and L’Interista all went with just one score lower at 7/10.
