One more Dane at AS Monaco 🇩🇰

Even though he was born in England and more precisely in London, Mika Biereth has chosen to defend the colours of Denmark, his father’s country of origin, in 2022. He thus becomes the sixth Dane to wear the jersey of La Diagonale and thus succeeds Søren Busk (1986-1987), Søren Lerby (1986-1987), John Sivebaek (1991-1992), Dan Petersen (1994-1997), and more recently Jakob Poulsen (2012-2014).

I'm very excited! I really wanted to be part of this project, so I'm very excited to be here at AS Monaco. I can't wait to get started! In any case I love the jersey, the colours and the cut, it reminds me of Denmark.

Developing alongside another Monégasque 👥

The 21-year-old will not be completely lost in the Principality, as he will be reunited with his former teammate in the Arsenal youth teams., Folarin Balogun! Indeed, the two players played 13 games together during the 2021-2022 season, recording seven victories with the London side’s U-23s. The American had also delivered a sublime assist for his partner during a crushing victory against Chelsea (1-6 victory, double from Balogun and hat-trick from Biereth)!

Well-known names already encountered 👀

But Mika Biereth also played on the same pitches as Gabriel Magalhaes (Arsenal), Eddie Nketiah (Crystal Palace) and Omari Hutchinson (Ipswich), during his time at Arsenal. Not forgetting a player he will face in Ligue 1, Theo Bair (Auxerre), who he came across at Motherwell. The same goes for the national team, where the striker learned his trade alongside Rasmus Højlund (Manchester United) with the U19s, and Filip Jörgensen (Chelsea) and Patrick Dorgu (Lecce) with the U21s.

The player who impressed him the most 🌪️

In an interview with the English media The iPaper last March, the Danish striker revealed the name of the teammate who had caught his eye the most in training. Again, it was a Gunner, but not the first one you might think of. “The best? Gabriel Martinelli. He is so fast and precise in everything he does!”, he explained then about the Brazilian winger from Arsenal.

Joint-top scorer in the Austrian league 🎯

Very skillful in front of goal and always well placed in the opponent’s area, the former Gunner is currently the joint top scorer in the Austrian league alongside Ronivaldo (11 goals) in only 16 games, he is notably ahead of Oscar Gloukh of Salzburg, while having delivered four assists. Attracted by the goal, he is also altruistic when necessary.

An unprecedented double 🏆

Austrian champion in 2023-2024 with Sturm Graz (22 matches, 9 goals), the new Monaco number 14 made a mark in the history of the Austrian club. The latter in fact contributed to the second league and cup double for SKSG, a team founded in… 1909!

Scoring against AS Monaco

If he is going to discover a new country after England, the Netherlands, Scotland and Austria, and especially a new league, Mika Biereth already knows his new club a little. Indeed, the latter met his new teammates in a friendly match this summer during the Rouge et Blanc‘s pre-season training camp in Windishgarsten. Against Sturm Graz, the men of Adi Hütter had a draw, with a penalty scored by… the Austrian number 18!

Already decisive in the Champions League 🇪🇺

As well as being the joint top scorer in the Austrian top flight this season, he has also already struck in Europe. Playing in the Champions League with the “Blackies”, Mika hasfound the back of the net during his last two appearances, even giving victory to his partners against Girona (1-0), before featuring in a narrow defeat for his team in Lille (3-2).

Inspired by two big players 🔝

Again in the interview with The i Paper, he reveals that he is inspired by two great strikers who have marked the best league in the world. If he thus confides that he is only interested “in scoring goals” like the Norwegian giant Erling Haaland. He admits to liking the intelligence of “Prince Harry”. “When it is not possible to score goals, then you have to combine, link the game, hold the ball like Kane does!”

One to watch on EA Sports FC 🎮

If you’re a crack at Football Manager, you must have already had him on your radar! In any case, the last fans of the career mode on EA Sports FC will be able to polish the card of the young Danish striker, who displays a modest 68 in general rating. But with good potential for progression, since he can reach 83 overall rating. Not bad, right?
