Barcelona confirm Suárez to Arsenal before deleting story

Arsenal are thought to have signed Spanish midfielder Denis Suárez on loan until the end of the season.

However, Barcelona have now deleted an article on their website which confirmed the deal.

Talks between the north London club and Barcelona appeared to have collapsed last week as Arsenal were unwilling to accept an obligation to buy Suárez at the end of the season.

Now, though, a deal has reportedly been completed. Suárez has also extended his contract at Camp Nou by a further year to 2021.

Suárez, 25, has played just 17 minutes in LaLiga this season after falling down the Barcelona pecking order.

The attacking midfielder is set to be reunited with former boss Unai Emery. The Arsenal head coach was in charge of Sevilla when Suárez spent the 2014/15 season on loan with the Spanish club.

Sevilla won the Europa League that season, though Suárez was not involved after the quarter-final stage.

According to reports, Arsenal have paid a loan fee of around €2m for the midfielder. The move could be made permanent next summer for an additional €23m, media outlets in Spain have claimed.
