Demba Ba makes major announcement via his social media

Demba Ba has retired from playing football.
In an emotional statement (see below) released via his Twitter account, the former Newcastle United striker announcing his retirement.
Now 36, Demba Ba most recently made three substitute appearances in Switzerland, playing for Lugano in July and August this year.
However, the one-time Senegal international has now called time.
To all the people, including fans of clubs he played for, Demba Ba says: ‘From the bottom of my heart THANK YOU.’
Arriving in Summer 2011 at Newcastle United, the striker was landed on a free transfer due to having a clause written in his West Ham contract saying he could leave for nothing if they were relegated, which did indeed happen in May 2011.
Demba Ba was superb for Newcastle and scored 29 Premier League goals in only 51 starts, plus three sub appearances.
The striker a key figure when NUFC finished fifth in 2011/12.

Mike Ashley refused to reward Demba Ba with an improved contract and after only a season and a half he moved to Chelsea, as they activated a £7m transfer release that was in his Newcastle United contract.

“It is with a heart filled with gratefulness that I announce the end of my playing career.
“What a wonderful journey it has been.
“Beside all the sweat and tears that I have faced, football has given me so many beautiful emotions.
“From the passion of the fans and the noise coming from the stands after every goals to the connection with my teammates on and off the field, this will forever remain in my head and my heart.
“I wanna thank everyone I crossed path and helped me grow, every clubs and managements for given me an opportunity, the fans for their tremendous support and my family and friends for their unconditional love.
“From the bottom of my heart THANK YOU.
