The 23-year-old England international swiftly deleted the video on Saturday before taking to Chinese social media platform Weibo on Sunday.

He posted: “Hi guys, it’s Dele; I just wanted to apologise on my behalf for the video I posted on Snapchat yesterday.

“It isn’t something that should be joked about. I’m sending all my love and all my thoughts and prayers to everyone in China.”

The controversy made the front page of the Daily Star Sunday.

Tottenham are currently on a two-week break from games. They return to action away to Aston Villa next Sunday.
