The former Tottenham star has been without a club since his contract with Everton expired in the summer and was on Sunday night spotted in the stands as Coma beat Roma 2-0 at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia.

Fabregas is manager of Como and looking for reinforcements with the club struggling in Serie A.

"I met him yesterday, I don't want to talk about that today,” Fabregas told DAZN after the game.

“There is a possibility that he could start training with us after Christmas, but only to help him get a bit fit."

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reported on Monday that Dele will begin training with Como on December 26. Both player and club hope this will lead to a contract.

Dele has not played a competitive game since February 2023, while on loan at Besiktas from Everton.

Earlier this year, the 28-year-old revealed years of childhood trauma, battles with a sleeping pill addiction and a recent stint in rehabilitation.

Dele was once among the most highly rated young players in the world, winning back-to-back PFA Young Player of the Year awards in 2016 and 2017 with Tottenham, as well as 37 caps for England.
