Tottenham got their Premier League campaign off to a flying start as they lived up to the pre-season billing with a 4-1 win over Southampton.

After going behind to a James Ward-Prowse volley, Antonio Conte’s men clicked into gear, putting on quite a show to send the Saints back to the seaside with their tales between their legs.

They did have a little help thanks to a quite bizarre Mohammed Salisu own goal but, in truth, Spurs were purring all afternoon and were full value for their quartet of goals.

Ryan Sessegnon, Eric Dier and Dejan Kulusevski got their names on the score sheet on what must have been a very exciting afternoon for the Spurs faithful.

However, while the scoreline would’ve left them with a smile on their face, it is the performance of Kulusevski that has got everyone talking.

Signed in January of this year, Kulusevski has been nothing short of a revelation in the lily white shirt, involving himself in 14 goals over 19 appearances for the club.

He was in the thick of the action yet again on Saturday afternoon as he put in a brilliant shift to inspire the north London side to a comfortable victory.

It was his fizzing cross for Sessegnon that got the ball rolling for Spurs and he continued to terrorise the opposition defence all afternoon long.

He would eventually grab yet further headlines with an accomplished finished into the bottom corner as he well and truly killed off the game.

Now, his highlights have emerged and as you can imagine, they’re a joy to watch.

In fact, Kulusevski’s performance was so good that it has led to many a fan comparing his signing to that of Liverpool’s Luis Diaz.

After Liverpool slumped to an opening day draw at Fulham, the prevailing opinion online seemed to be that Kulusevski has been the far superior signing.

Do they have a point?

Both men were signed at roughly the same time with Liverpool pipping Spurs to the Diaz post.

However, is that proving to be a blessing in disguise as, having missed out on the Colombian, Spurs instead switched their focus to Kulusevski?

It’s certainly an interesting debate and one that could rage throughout the season.
