Dejan Kulusevski is certainly not one to rest on his laurels.

The Swedish star who made such an impact after his arrival from Juventus in the second half of last season -  five goals, eight assists in the Premier League - was straight back into the action in our impressive opening day 4-1 win against Southampton on Saturday.

Deki produced the cross for Ryan Sessegnon’s equaliser after the Saints took an early lead and then planted home our fourth goal on 62 minutes, no less than his performance deserved.

“I want to score more, and that’s how you do it, you start the season with a goal and keep going from there,” Deki told SPURSPLAY afterwards. “I had a lot of time, I couldn’t miss from there, I got the goal, I’m very happy. It’s very important for me and for the team. All my goals come from this sort of area. I have to keep scoring these goals but also to evolve my game and score different goals.

“I have to grow. I have to get better in every way. I want to be a better footballer, so I have to keep listening to my fantastic coach, continue to be humble and keep living my dream.”

As for his assist, a whipped in, inswinging cross with his left foot from the right headed home by Ryan to level the scores on 21 minutes, Deki added: “It’s something I want to add to my game. I crossed before and nothing happened, but then I told myself I had to do it again. I have to do that more. The important thing is that Sess is going to be there. I spoke with him before the game to tell him to be ready if the ball comes there, he scored and I’m very happy for him.

“It was amazing to get the season going, playing at home in front of our fans, in front of our families and we brought three points home, so I’m very happy.”
