One week after they defeated River Plate in El Monumental, Defensa y Justicia have done it again.

After 16 games, against all odds, DyJ are still the only undefeated Superliga side in their historic 2018-19 season.

For the first time in the club’s history, they beat San Lorenzo, by a score of 1-0 thanks to a dramatic 92nd-minute winning goal from Fernando Márquez.

After the goal, San Lorenzo goalkeeper Fernando Monetti was sent off for an altercation with someone associated with DyJ behind the goal.

Defensa y Justicia are now level on points with Racing Club at the top of the Superliga table despite having been promoted to Argentina’s top flight for the first time just four seasons ago.

Argentine giants San Lorenzo, meanwhile, continue their miserable season and remain in 23rd place on 14 points.

They will host seventh-placed Independiente next Saturday.
