Benjamin Pavard will reportedly ‘fight as hard as possible’ to move to Manchester United from Bayern Munich, after the Red Devils saw their opening bid knocked back.

As yet this summer, United have signed three players, each in different positions. They snared Chelsea attacking-midfielder Mason Mount, before improving the goalkeeper position with Andre Onana, and finally strengthening up top with Rasmus Hojlund.

If Erik ten Hag gets his way, Hojlund will not be the last player to walk through the door at Old Trafford this summer. Indeed, United have bid for Bayern Munich defender Pavard.

He has been the subject of strong links to the Manchester outfit for a while, and while there’s been no suggestion of what the bid they lodged was of, it’s stated it was turned down.

United are said to be prepared to keep pushing. Pavard himself is seemingly very keen on the move, as Florian Plettenberg states he has a verbal agreement in place with the Red Devils, and is ‘very open’ to joining them.

Sky Sports reiterate just how keen Pavard is on making the move to Old Trafford. They report the defender will ‘fight as hard as possible’ to move to United.

However, at this stage, the clubs are said to be ‘far apart in their valuations’. It’s unclear just what Pavard’s plans are to make sure the deal goes through.

Even if he was to refuse to play, Bayern might not be forced into the sale. They’ve got other options in the defence, meaning they could cope without him.

With that being said, though he’s ready to fight, he might have to hope that United can come to an agreement with Bayern.

The move seemingly hinges on Harry Maguire’s potential exit from the club. Indeed, Sky Sports state the move to sign Pavard will ‘only happen’ if Maguire is sold.

Ten Hag’s side have apparently agreed a deal to sell him to West Ham. Whether or not the centre-back agrees upon personal terms is another matter, though.
