Vitor Roque was one of the most exciting signings made by FC Barcelona in the last few years. The Brazilian forward displayed a very good level in his native country prior to his move to the Blaugrana club and arrived in Spain with very high hopes.
However, things did not really pan out as planned, and he had to leave the Catalan club on loan only six months after his arrival. Currently, he is playing on loan at the La Liga Real Betis, where, despite his promising first half of the season, things are not looking too good for his future.
Meanwhile, even after his departure on loan, the Brazilian striker’s transfer is causing a lot of stir at Barcelona. This is particularly the case as SPORT reports that Deco has decided to initiate legal proceedings against the former presidential candidate, Victor Font, for his statements regarding the Portuguese official’s involvement in Roque’s transfer.
Former Barcelona Presidential candidate Víctor Font
Last month, Font appeared in an interview with RAC1, in which he hinted at possible corruption in Roque’s transfer to the Blaugrana club. He claimed that despite not being his agent, Deco had offered the young striker to the Catalans before he was the Sporting Director.
Jordi Cruyff and Mateu Alemany rejected the move at that time, mainly because Barcelona did not have any FFP margin. However, Deco finalized the Brazilian’s arrival as soon as he took up the reins at the Catalan club.
Although he did not say it outright, Font’s comments implied that Deco could financially benefit from this operation. In response to this allegation, the Sporting Director has reportedly decided to protect his reputation and is now planning to take legal action against Victor Font.
Meanwhile, Roque looks likely to return to the Blaugrana club in the summer, as Real Betis have recently signed Cucho Hernandez and the Seville club might decide not to extend his loan for another season.
