Despite plenty of interest from Major League Soccer in the United States and the Turkish Süper Lig, DeAndre Yedlin is set to stay at Newcastle.
That’s according to The Athletic’s Paul Tenorio, who claims that Yedlin will play out the final year of his contract amid rumours that the Magpies would be willing to let the American leave for free.
Yedlin will be able to talk to other clubs and sign a pre-contract agreement with the team of his choosing beginning in January.
The 27-year-old has been a mainstay at St. James’ Park since arriving from Tottenham in 2016.
Amid the uncertainty over his future, Steve Bruce had Yedlin train alone while Javier Manquillo took his place in the starting XI. Yedlin returned to the bench for their draw against Tottenham over the weekend.
Yedlin played the full 90 minutes for each of Newcastle’s EFL Cup victories this season and has made 117 career Magpies appearances to date.
